We're excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2024 Fall Ball season. Players who have just completed their Little League experience, as well as those born on or after May 1, 2009, are invited to participate.
Fall Ball offers a fantastic opportunity for players who have completed their Little League years to adjust to the larger diamond in a supportive and encouraging environment, while allowing others to continue to work on their skills. Our goal is to foster improvement through positive reinforcement, emphasizing that baseball is, above all, fun!
Returning Fall Ball players will have just finished their 1st or 2nd Spring season and are gearing up for the majors 14-16-year-old division next spring. Players transitioning from Little League are eligible for the fall season and then for the 13-year-old Prep division in the spring. For Fall Ball, we combine these age groups to form balanced teams, ensuring each team includes players from each age group.
We plan to start workouts and scrimmages (also known as sandlot games) on August 24-25, with actual games hopefully commencing shortly thereafter. Teams will play one weekday game and one game each on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday games will end in mid-September due to daylight constraints, but we aim to continue through mid-October by adjusting game times.
For those asking about bat regulations, we do have bat regulations like Little League does. Bats must be stamped with either USA Baseball (same as Little League) or BBCOR (high school standard). USSSA bats are not permitted in any Babe Ruth program, including Peabody.
New players to Peabody Babe Ruth must present their Birth Certificate for verification (we only need to see it; no copy required). You can upload a copy during the registration process to satisfy this requirement. If you upload something else, like a picture of your cat, your car, or a report card, you will then need to show us in person the birth certificate.
Since its introduction in Peabody in 1961, Babe Ruth Baseball has been a cherished tradition, celebrating over 60 years of youth baseball. This year marks our 63rd season—a testament to our dedication to developing young athletes, supporting their growth, and enjoying the sport we all love.
As soon as we have sufficient registrations, we will provide details on dates, times, and locations. Feel free to spread the word and invite friends from neighboring communities who can join us for the fall season. However, to participate in the spring, players must reside in or attend school in Peabody. So, if you have a cousin from Woburn or somewhere, bring them along for the fall!
Finally- Dicks’ Sporting Goods will again host a 20% off weekend August 23-25. We will send out the coupon for this 20% discount once we receive it. So, if you need new gear, this would be a great time to pick it up while saving money.
On behalf of our Board and the volunteers who make youth baseball in Peabody possible, thank you for your continued support. For any questions, please contact me via email or text at 978-808-4915.
We look forward to seeing you at the ballpark! Please visit peabodybaberuth.org to register.
Best regards,
